WFU theatre studio series features one-act plays Feb. 5-6

The 2000-2001 Wake Forest University Theatre Studio Series will feature two one-act plays directed by theatre students. Performances of “At Home: (Split, Part I)” and “Up Down Strange Charmed Beauty and Truth” will be held Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 6 at 4:30 p.m. in the Ring Theatre inside the Scales Fine Arts Center. The shows are open to the public and tickets will be sold at the door for $2.

In Michael Weller’s, “At Home,” married characters Paul and Carol prepare for a dinner party. He teaches high school history and she is a housewife. They uncover the real problems in their relationship through a heated argument. Senior Jenn Wynne will direct Greg Willsey and Keri Senges in this play.

The second production, “Up Down Strange Charmed Beauty and Truth,” is by Edward Allen Baker. On a Saturday in Providence, R.I., two teenage sisters living in an abusive home seek help from their unsuspecting uncle. Struggling to put their lives back together, Uncle Danny and his nieces spend an emotional evening of humor and heartache. Senior Meghan Guerrero will direct the production featuring Hilary Heard, Erin Lichenstein and Brannon Shiftlett.
