Area families invited to ‘Who Am I?’ event at WFU’s Museum of Anthropology

An afternoon of theatrical makeup artistry and transformation is planned for April 21 at Wake Forest University’s Museum of Anthropology. Mary Wayne-Thomas, associate professor of theater, will demonstrate how makeup and costumes change people from their “real” selves into different people.

The event will be held as part of the museum’s current exhibit, “Transformations: African Masks in the Museum of Anthropology,” which runs until June 21. The exhibit shows how masks are used in African masquerade to transform actors into different characters.

Wayne-Thomas will choose a few people from the audience to transform with stage makeup.

“Who Am I?” will take place from 2-3:30 p.m. in the museum’s classroom. Registration is $10 for families of five or more, and $7 for families with four or fewer members. To register, call 336-758-5282.
