Student piano recital to be held at Wake Forest

Senior Madeleine Bayard and junior Elizabeth Machalek will perform a piano recital at 8 p.m. April 19 in Wake Forest University’s Brendle Recital Hall.

Machalek will open the concert with “Sonata in A Minor” by Domenico Scarlatti. She will also perform works by Robert Schumann and Frederic Chopin. Bayard will play several movements from Schumann’s “Kinderscenen” and two pieces by Johannes Brahms. Machalek and Bayard will perform together to conclude the concert with a duet of Brahms’s “Waltzes, Opus 39” and AntonÌn Dvor·k’s “Slavonic Dance, Opus 72, No.1.”

Bayard and Machalek are students of Peter Kairoff, associate professor of music.
