WFU fall faculty and guest artist dance concert to be held Nov. 15-17

DancerThe Wake Forest University Dance Company will perform its annual fall concert Nov. 15-17 at 7:30 p.m. in the MainStage Theatre in Scales Fine Arts Center. The concert will feature works by local choreographers Fanchon Cordell, Susan McCullough, Dianne Markham, Sherone Price and Nina Lucas.

Cordell, McCullough and Markham teach at the North Carolina School of the Arts. Price teaches at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Lucas is the director of dance at Wake Forest.

The show will begin with “Eclipse,” choreographed by Lucas to the music of Cirque du Soleil. Next, Cordell has restaged Tchaikovsky’s “Pas de Trois” from “Swan Lake.” “Fractural Images Indigo Moods” will follow, choreographed by Price, with music written by Pharaoh Sanders. McCullough’s piece, “Lament,” with music by Arvo Part, will follow. “Cowgirls,” choreographed by Markham and narrated by local actress Lesley Hunt, will close the show. Frank Ludwig, assistant professor of theatre at Wake Forest, is the lighting designer for all five pieces.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and children. They are available through the university box office at 336-758-5295. The box office is open weekdays from noon to 5 p.m.
