Nationally recognized theater expert to visit Wake Forest Feb. 22
David Savran, professor of theater studies in the Graduate Center at the City University of New York, will give two programs at Wake Forest University on Feb. 22.
Savran first will present a lecture to theater students at 2 p.m. in the Ring Theatre. This event is free and open to the university community.
He also will speak following the Wake Forest production of “A Lie of the Mind” at 7:30 p.m. in the MainStage Theatre. Audience members are invited to stay after the show for this program.
Savran is a nationally recognized scholar of theater and gender studies. His books include “The Playwright’s Voice,” “Breaking the Rules,” and “Communists, Cowboys and Queers: The Politics of Masculinity in the Work of Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams.”
Savran also is an expert on playwright Sam Shepard, author of “A Lie of the Mind,” which will be performed at Wake Forest beginning Feb. 20.
