Public, media invited to Wake Forest convocation with Doris Kearns Goodwin

The public is invited to attend Wake Forest University’s Founders’ Day Convocation Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. in Wait Chapel, featuring presidential historian and journalist Doris Kearns Goodwin as speaker. Goodwin will present “Presidential Leadership in Times of Crisis.”

Public parking will be available in a lot located at the corner of Long Drive and Polo Road, across from the Polo Road entrance to campus. Shuttles will be available.

Members of the media covering the event will have reserved seating in the front right of the chapel. Photographers may set up in the back or along the sides of the chapel, on the balcony stairs.

Goodwin will hold a brief press conference immediately following the ceremony at 12 p.m. in Benson University Center, Room 407.

At 3 p.m., Goodwin will speak with a group of approximately 40 history and political science students and faculty. The private conversation will take place in the Ring Theatre inside Scales Fine Arts Center. Members of the media are invited to attend, but only students and faculty will participate in the discussion.

Some media parking will be available on Davis Field, in front of the Z. Smith Reynolds Library. Media are asked to arrive early and have their press identification available for this area of reserved parking.
