Writers Reading Series features poetry reading by faculty members
Poets Evie Shockley and Robert West will read from their work April 4 as part of the Wake Forest University Writers Reading Series. This event will be held at 5 p.m. in Tribble Hall’s DeTamble Auditorium, and is free and open to the public.
Shockley is an assistant professor of English at Wake Forest. “The Gorgon Goddess,” a chapbook of her poetry, was recently published by Carolina Wren Press. Her poetry has also appeared in The Café Review, Obsidian III, and the books “Bum Rush the Page: A Def Poetry Jam,” “Callaloo, Catch the Fire!!!: A Cross-Generational Anthology of Contemporary African American Poetry” and “New Sister Voices: Poetry by American Women of African Descent.”
West is a visiting assistant professor of English at Wake Forest. His poetry magazine, Blink: A Little Little Magazine of Little Poems, has attracted contributors from all over the world. West’s poetry has appeared in Connecticut Review, Hampden-Sydney Poetry Review, Pembroke Magazine, Poetry magazine, Southern Poetry Review and Tar River Poetry.
