Wake Forest University symphonic band to perform

The Wake Forest University Symphonic Band will present a concert at 8 p.m. on April 23 in Brendle Recital Hall.

The concert will open with “Symphonic Overture” by 20th century composer Charles Carter. Pierre LaPlante’s “Prairie Songs” will follow as well as Pierre Leemans’ “Marche des Parachutistes Belges.” Also featured will be pieces by Clare Grundman and Hugh M. Stuart. The final selection will be “Angel Band” by Walter Hartley.

Kevin Bowen, director of bands, and Barbara Trautwein, assistant director of athletic bands, conduct the University Symphonic Band.
