WFU students present one-act plays
Wake Forest University senior theatre students Meg McKee and Jonathan Horvath will direct two one-act plays March 24 at 7:30 p.m. and March 25 at 4:30 p.m. in the Ring Theatre of the Scales Fine Arts Center. Tickets will be sold at the door beginning one hour prior to the performance for $2 each.
The one-acts are part of the annual Studio Series presented by student directors and featuring an all-student cast, crew and production team. The plays are the final events of this semester’s series.
McKee will present Caryl Churchill’s “Three More Sleepless Nights.” The play focuses on three couples that can’t sleep at night and what they do, instead. It explores relationship problems and repetitive mistakes made within those relationships. The cast will include Wake Forest freshmen Matt Griffin and Emily Johnson and sophomores Mary Patterson Broome and Nick Ewen.
Horvath will present Donald Margulies’ “July 7, 1994,” an exploration of fear and violence in society and class conflict set against the backdrop of the sensationalism of the O.J. Simpson trial. The play centers on a good-hearted doctor pushed to her limit by her eccentric patients. The cast will include Wake Forest freshmen Jenifer Parker and Ben Whiting, sophomore Alex Kejner, junior Pip Rinehart and senior Lauren Raimer.
