WFU to host technology conference to discuss tech issues in schools

Wake Forest University will host a technology consortium for faculty and staff of southeastern colleges and universities from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. April 1. The free event will bring together leaders in higher education technology to share ideas and discuss effective uses of classroom and campus technology.

Faculty and staff at area colleges and universities are invited to attend and may register online at technologyconsortium.wfu.edu.

David Brown, a Wake Forest vice president who is a professor of economics and dean of the International Center for Computer Enhanced Learning, will deliver the keynote address at 9:30 a.m. Brown was provost of Wake Forest when the university launched its technology initiative in 1996, which included laptop computers for all students. Brown is recognized as a leader in incorporating technology into the classroom and is the author of several books, including “Ubiquitous Computing,” “Interactive Learning” and Electronically Enhanced Education.”

Participants in the consortium can choose from a variety of seminar topics, including wireless computing, empowering students to use technology, moving applications from paper to online, and campus intranets. A full schedule and seminar listing is available online.
