Advisory: Media invited to WFU technology consortium April 1

Members of the media are invited to Wake Forest University April 1 for a technology consortium that will bring together more than 150 faculty and staff from about 30 southeastern colleges and universities to discuss technology’s role on college campuses. The event will be from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the second level of the university’s Information Systems Building.

David Brown, a Wake Forest vice president who is a professor of economics and dean of the International Center for Computer Enhanced Learning, will deliver the keynote address at 9:30 a.m. Brown was provost of Wake Forest when the university launched its technology initiative in 1996, which included laptop computers for all students and established Wake Forest as a leader in the field. Brown is the author of several books, including “Ubiquitous Computing,” “Interactive Learning” and “Electronically Enhanced Education.”

The consortium will feature several seminars throughout the day that will focus on topics like wireless computing, empowering students to use technology, moving applications from paper to online, and campus intranets. A full schedule and seminar listing is available online at http://technologyconsortium.wfu.edu.
