WFU welcomes new students

Student and parentsWake Forest University expects 1,009 incoming freshmen on campus Aug. 20.

Freshmen will move into their residence halls throughout the day beginning at 8 a.m. Nearly all freshmen will live on campus. Sophomores, juniors and seniors will move into their rooms on Aug. 23 and 24.

Classes for all undergraduates begin Aug. 27.

This year’s freshman class represents 40 states and 10 foreign countries. Twenty-seven percent are North Carolina residents; the remaining 73 percent are from out-of-state.

Forty-one percent of the students graduated within the top 5 percent of their high school classes. The incoming class includes 520 women and 489 men. Thirteen percent are minorities.

Orientation for the Divinity School’s 42 new students begins Aug. 22. The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences begins orientation for its 125 new students on Aug. 26. Classes for both schools begin Aug. 27.

Orientation for the 105 new full-time MBA students began Aug. 11. Classes for the full-time program in the Babcock Graduate School of Management begin Aug. 18.

Orientation begins for the 194 first-year students in the School of Law on Aug. 18. Classes start Aug. 25.
