Wake Forest University expects 1,120 incoming freshmen to arrive on campus Aug. 18.

Freshman orientation begins with move-in and lasts through Aug. 23.

Freshmen will move into their residence halls throughout the day beginning at 8 a.m. Nearly all freshmen will live on campus. Sophomores, juniors and seniors will move into their residence halls Aug. 20 and 21.

Classes for all undergraduates will begin Aug. 24.

This year’s freshman class represents 43 states and 11 foreign countries. Twenty-six percent are North Carolina residents.

Thirty-eight percent of the students graduated within the top 5 percent of their high school classes. Seventeen percent are minorities, the largest number ever, says Director of Admissions Martha Allman.

Students entering Wake Forest as freshmen in fall 2005 were selected from among the largest number of students ever to apply. Applications increased 20 percent from last year to a record high 7,481, nearly 1,200 more than were received in 2004 and 950 more than the previous record year in 1997.

Orientation for the Divinity School’s 34 new students begins Aug. 19. The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences begins orientation for its approximately 150 new students on Aug. 23. Classes for both schools begin Aug. 24.

Orientation for the approximately 90 new full-time MBA students begins Aug. 15. Classes for the full-time program in the Babcock Graduate School of Management begin Aug. 22.

The School of Law will hold orientation for approximately 115 first-year students Aug. 12, with classes beginning Aug. 22. Students entering the Master of Laws Program in American Law, a one-year degree for international students who will practice law in foreign nations, will also attend orientation Aug. 12 and begin classes Aug. 22.
