Members of the media are invited to attend Wake Forest University’s Founders’ Day Convocation, featuring best-selling author and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Anna Quindlen at 11 a.m. Feb. 19 in Wait Chapel. The free event is open to the public.
Quindlen’s talk will focus on how the media can help people coexist, and it is offered as part of the university’s ongoing celebration of the 2003-2004 theme “Fostering Dialogue: Civil Discourse in an Academic Community.” The theme is dedicated to the exploration of how free people with passionate interests and beliefs can communicate openly without turning dialogue into discord.
During the ceremony, the university will recognize the field hockey team, which won its second consecutive NCAA Championship in 2003. In addition, the recipient of the Medallion of Merit, the university’s highest award for service, will be announced.
Media seating is available in the first and second rows on the far right side of the chapel. Cameras may set up along the right stairway and balcony. Media needing audio of the event should arrive at the chapel no later than 10:45 a.m.
Media parking is available on both sides of the chapel in parking lots P and A. Marked media vehicles can park along the sidewalk in Lot N, between Poteat and Kitchin residence halls.
