Prominent film scholar Peter Brunette will present a free, public lecture at Wake Forest University March 4 at 5 p.m. in Scales Fine Arts Center, Room 102. His topic will be sexual politics in Luchino Visconti’s 1943 film classic, “Ossessione.”
During the lecture, Brunette will show clips from the film, which is an adaptation of the thriller “The Postman Always Rings Twice.”
Advance screenings of the entire movie will be held March 1 in the Wake Forest Law School Building, Room 1309 and again on March 2 in Scales Fine Arts Center, Room 102. Both screenings will begin at 8 p.m. Admission is free.
Brunette is a professor of English, film studies and cultural studies at George Mason University. He is a prolific author, editor and columnist on film, film theory and foreign and independent films.
