Pancake breakfast at WFU to aid tsunami survivors
The Student Leadership Council of Wake Forest University’s Divinity School will hold a benefit pancake breakfast between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. March 1 in the Lower Auditorium of Wingate Hall. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund. The public is invited to attend.
The all-you-can-eat breakfast will include pancakes, eggs, bacon, grits, juice, milk and Starbucks coffee. Cost is $3 per person. Donations above the cost of breakfast will be accepted. A brief prayer will be held for survivors and the rebuilding process at 9 a.m.
According to organizers, the fundraiser was initiated because media coverage of the tsunami disaster continues to slowly diminish, but the amount of work needed to finish rebuilding remains significant.
Money raised from this event will be combined with the more than $9,000 that has been raised through other campus tsunami relief benefits and distributed to the American Red Cross.
