WFU Secrest Artists Series welcomes the Elias Quartet
Event conclude a six-concert odyssey into the complete String Quartets of Ludwig van Beethoven
On March 15, 16, & 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Brendle Recital Hall the Secrest Artists Series will welcome back the vibrant young Elias String Quartet and conclude a six-concert odyssey into the complete String Quartets of Ludwig van Beethoven.
The pre-perfomance talk will be led by Beethoven expert and professor emeritus of music, David B. Levy and begin at 6:40 p.m. in Scales Fine Arts Center Room M208 across from Brendle Recital Hall.
The Elias began the concert series in February 2020. These initial concerts were met with praise, including Peter Perret for Classical Voice North Carolina, stating “This was glorious playing” by “four minds melded into one super-human existence for the duration of the piece.”
Details and tickets are available on the Wake Forest Secrest Series website here.
The Elias have performed the complete cycle of Beethoven quartets for BBC Radio 3 as well as at 11 major venues in the UK. Their recently recorded Beethoven cycle for the “Wigmore Hall Live” record label has received wide acclaim from the classical-music press and listeners alike.
Wake Forest University and Medical School faculty, staff and retirees receive free admission for themselves and one guest to each Secrest Artists Series performance. WFU students and Medical School students receive free admission for themselves. Tickets for the community are $5-$36, with special pricing for attendance at all three concerts.
