Groundbreaking ceremony held for Wake Forest office building at The Grounds

Wake Forest University celebrated the groundbreaking today for an office building at The Grounds that will house 400 University staff when it is completed in 2027.

“This place will be a hub of great energy, excitement and collaborative work,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Jackie Travisano.

A lunchtime celebration was held at Bridger Field House at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium for employees from the departments that will occupy the five-story building, followed by a gathering at the building site for the groundbreaking.

Several administrative departments will relocate to the space, including Financial Services, Human Resources, Information Systems, the Legal Department, Audit and Compliance Services, University Advancement, and University Marketing and Communications.

Wake Forest President Susan R. Wente welcomed the guests and described this as “another big step forward for The Grounds.”

The Grounds is a transformative 100-acre mixed-use development in the Deacon Boulevard area, surrounding some of North Carolina’s most iconic event venues. Spearheaded by a visionary partnership of Carter, Front Street Capital, Wake Forest University, and the City of Winston-Salem, The Grounds will be a year-round gathering place blending vibrant and unique retail, food and beverage options, entertainment, office, activities, walking trails and new styles of residential living all in one community hub.

Adam Parker, vice president at Carter and Coleman Team, president and managing partner of Front Street, also spoke at the event.

In July, the developers broke ground on Creekside at the Grounds, the first residential project within The Grounds. In August, the reconfigured Deacon Blvd. opened.
