Guest organist Marilyn Keiser will perform at Wake Forest University Friday, Oct. 11, in a concert marking the 40th anniversary of Wait Chapel’s organ.
The concert, including music from the 1956 dedication ceremony, will begin at 8 p.m. in Wait Chapel. Two pieces repeated from the original program are Handel’s Concerto in B-flat Major, Op. 4, No. 2 and Mozart’s Andante (K. 616).
The M. P. Moller organ was given to the university by Mr. and Mrs. Walter McAdoo Williams of Burlington, when Wake Forest moved to Winston-Salem.
An active member of The American Guild of Organists (AGO), Keiser has been a featured artist for regional and national conventions of the AGO. She has performed in the United States, Canada and Europe. A professor of music at Indiana University, Keiser teaches courses in sacred music as well as organ. In addition, she has given lectures and workshops in church music for various protestant churches. She is the co-organist of Trinity Episcopal Church in Bloomington.
Admission is free. A reception hosted by the Wake Forest Baptist Church will be held following the concert. The event is part of Wake Forest’s Year of the Arts, a yearlong celebration of the arts featuring concerts, plays, lectures and a symposium.
