Festival of the Arts to Benefit AIDS Care
Wake Forest students along with students from the North Carolina School of the Arts and Winston-Salem State University will host the “Festival of the Arts to Benefit AIDS Care” from 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, at Corpening Plaza. Students, faculty and alumni from the three schools including the Wake Forest Gospel Choir and Stepping Group will perform at the event. Other highlights will include the rock band Jump Little Children and a silent art auction. All funds raised will be donated to AIDS Care Service and HOPE (HIV Outreach and Education), two local not-for-profit organizations that provide services to people living with AIDS and HIV in Forsyth County. Special Olymics Carnival
Wake Forest Volunteer Service Corps will sponsor a carnival for the children competing in the Special Olympics on campus Tuesday, April 28. The Wacky Activities for Kids with Energy (W.A.K.E.) event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the football practice field (adjacent to Kentner Stadium). The carnival will feature clowns, face painting, a dunking booth and games.
Fair Focuses on Teaching with Computers
Wake Forest faculty will get a close look Wednesday, April 29, at how their colleagues are using computers in innovative ways to teach subjects ranging from western art to the independent counsel system. The demonstrations will be presented at the Wake Forest Tech Fair from 4-6 p.m. in Benson University Center, Room 401. Many of the professors will be accompanied by students who have assisted them in incorporating the Web, electronic mail and a wide range of software in their classes. The event is not open to the public, but reporters and photographers are invited to the event.
