ADVISORY: Media invited to cover donation of furniture to hurricane relief effort

The media are invited to cover Wake Forest University’s donation of more than 580 sets of residence hall furniture to the Hurricane Floyd relief effort on May 16.

Furniture from residence halls Kitchin and Efird will be moved May 16 starting at 10 a.m., and furniture from Huffman, Palmer and Piccolo will be moved on May 17.

Wake Forest employees, along with volunteers from area churches, businesses and the North Carolina Baptist Men of the Baptist State Convention, will be moving bunk beds, wall mirrors, dressers and student desks with bookcase hutches out of the residence halls into tractor-trailers for transport to a distribution warehouse in Grifton, south of Greenville.

Media parking will be available in Lot A, located next to Wait Chapel and behind Efird Residence Hall. News trucks and vans are not allowed on University Plaza, but may park in Lot B, which is adjacent to the plaza between Taylor and Davis residence halls.
