Advisory: Media invited to holiday events at WFU

Several upcoming holiday events at Wake Forest University will provide print and broadcast media opportunities for holiday-related photographs, video and stories. The following is a brief summary of upcoming events. Contact the News Service for more information or to arrange coverage.

  • “Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols”
    11 a.m. Dec. 3, Wait Chapel. The free public event features eight lessons and 16 hymns designed to help participants prepare for the coming of Christ. Musical selections for the program range from French Calvinist to African-American.
  • “Lighting of the Quad”
    8 p.m. Dec. 3, University Plaza (the Quad). Buildings surrounding the plaza will be decorated with white lights and a live evergreen tree will be placed on the Quad. The event will feature an interfaith service and musical performances.
  • Students Help Local Children
    4-6 p.m. Dec. 4, Benson University Center, Room 401. Wake Forest students will help local children decorate cookies, sing holiday songs and make crafts.
  • Holiday Choral Concer
    8 p.m. Dec. 5, Brendle Recital Hall. Wake Forest University Concert Choir, Collegium Vocal Ensemble and Chorale. Free and open to the public. The audience will be invited to join in the singing of traditional carols between sets and following the performance.
  • 37th Annual Christmas Lovefeast
    8 p.m. Dec. 8, Wait Chapel. Luminaries will encircle University Plaza. Inside the chapel, each person will receive a beeswax candle to be lit at the end of the service. Students and faculty will serve coffee and Moravian buns.
