Award-winning novelist Paul Eggers to read at WFU

Novelist Paul Eggers, the final novelist featured in the Dillon Johnston Writers Reading Series at Wake Forest University, will read Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. in DeTamble Auditorium in Tribble Hall. A reception and booksigning will follow the reading.

Eggers is the author of “Saviors,” a Barnes & Noble Discovery selection and winner of the Maria Thomas Fiction Award, and the prize-winning short-fiction collection, “How the Water Feels.”

The recipient of a National Endowment of the Arts fellowship for 2002-2003, Eggers has published stories in Granta, Prairie Schooner, The Quarterly, Northwest Review and other journals. He teaches at California State University in Chico.

Egger’s work continues to be influenced in part by his service in the 1970s as a Peace Corps volunteer in Malaysia and an education advisor for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Malaysia and the Philippines.

The reading is sponsored by the Wake Forest department of English and is free and open to the public. For more information, contact John McNally at mcnalljr@wfu.edu or at 336-758-3366.
