Alumnus brings pro tennis to town

Don Flow Trustee and Board of Visitors member Don Flow (MBA '83) is the chairman of Winston-Salem Professional Tennis Inc., the nonprofit group that persuaded the U.S. Tennis Association to move this week's ATP tournament to Winston-Salem.

Former Deacon wins PGA tourney

Webb Simpson Former Wake Forest All-American Webb Simpson shot a bogey-free final round 67 at the Wyndham Championship on Sunday to claim his first PGA Tour victory. Simpson shot rounds of 66-65-64-67 to finish at 18-under par.

Retail marketing center launched

Worrell Professional Center The Schools of Business announced the unveiling of its new Center for Value Delivery Innovation, a first-of-its-kind retail marketing collaboration, at the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) Executive Conference in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Aug. 20.

Social media and safety

The Wake Forest police department has taken the lead in combining social media and safety — developing a public safety mobility app and using Twitter to reach the community. The department's efforts have been recognized by the International Association for Chiefs of Police.
