More than 700 graduates from the Class of 2020 returned to walk across the stage in front of Wait Chapel for a long-awaited in-person commencement ceremony.
Commencement 2021 was a graduation like no other. The usual outdoor celebration’s move to Joel Coliseum and Truist Field were different, but the happy smiles and proud grads and families remained the same.
Wake Forest will recognize the Class of 2021 on May 16 at Truist Field. The event for undergraduates includes three featured speakers. Their talks will be shared virtually at various times throughout the celebration.
Twelve years ago, Joe Biden was the first sitting Vice President to give Wake Forest University's commencement address. Biden spoke to the class of 2009 on May 18 on Hearn Plaza.
On Monday, May 18, at 7 p.m. (EST), Wake Forest University will hold a Conferring of Degrees ceremony for the Class of 2020.
In a message sent to the Wake Forest University community today, President Nathan O. Hatch shared that the University will not resume in-person classes this spring. The University’s traditional Commencement ceremony this May has been postponed.
Nearly 2,000 graduates and their friends and family members filled Hearn Plaza on Monday, May 20, for Wake Forest’s 2019 Commencement ceremony. Cloud cover and a light breeze in the early morning gave way to warm temperatures and bright sun for the nearly 11,000 attending the celebration.
Wake Forest University will be closed to through traffic for its commencement ceremony Monday, May 20, from 5:30 a.m. until the ceremony ends around noon. Frederick J. Ryan Jr., publisher and chief executive officer of The Washington Post, will deliver the commencement address to nearly 1,900 graduates.
