Violinist to Perform Senior Recital of Chamber Music
Violinist Robert Shaw will perform a senior recital of chamber music at Wake Forest University on March 23 at 8 p.m.
The free concert will be held in Brendle Recital Hall.
Shaw will perform the fourth movement of Schubert’s Piano Quintet in A Major, also called the “Trout Quintet.” Violist Jessica Dial, cellist Sarah Houghtlin, bassist Anne Bramley and pianist Susie Martin will perform the piece with him.
Shaw will also perform Bach’s Concerto in C minor for Oboe and Violin with oboist Lisa Bennett and a small ensemble. Shaw will conclude the concert with Brahms’ Quartet No. 3 in B-flat Major joined by violinist Cedron Williams, violist Jamie Raudensky and cellist Sarah Obrecht.
Shaw, a senior music minor and mathematical economics major from Greenville, is a student of Sarah Johnson. Also a student of David Hagy, Wake Forest director of orchestra, he is concertmaster of the university orchestra and was recently featured as a concerto soloist. While a freshman, Shaw performed a solo recital and was invited to perform with the Raleigh Symphony. He is the son of Robert A. and Jon W. Shaw of Greenville.
