Opus 5, the Wake Forest University Faculty Woodwind Quintet, will perform Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. in Brendle Recital Hall inside the Scales Fine Arts Center. The concert’s highlight will be the premiere performance of Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet.

Members of Opus 5 are Kathryn Levy, flute; Steve Jones, oboe; Linda Julian, clarinet; Jon Julian, bassoon; and Robert Campbell, horn.
The Ravel String Quartet was transcribed for woodwind quintet by Winston-Salem bassoonist Mark Popkin. He is the principal bassoonist with the Winston-Salem Piedmont Triad Symphony.
The program will also feature “Quintet in E flat” by Anton Reicha and “Sonatine” by Marcel Bitsch.
