WFU announces new director for Office of Research and Sponsored Programs

Lori MesserLori Messer has been named the new director for the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at Wake Forest. She joined the university on Aug. 1.

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs handles student and faculty grants as well as educational sponsorships to Wake Forest University made by outside organizations. The office helps members of the university community with their search for outside sources of funding for their research and other projects.

Messer will manage the office and her responsibilities will include project and proposal development.

At Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla., Messer was the assistant director of sponsored research. Her duties included managing research and sponsored program activities, reviewing proposals for compliance with sponsor guidelines and university policy, and developing and reviewing policies related to sponsored research.

Messer graduated from Wright State University in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She received her master’s degree in public administration from the University of Dayton in 1996. She is a member of the Evaluation Task Force of the National Council of University Research Administrators for 2001-2003.
