Advisory: Media arrangements for WFU commencement with Michael Bloomberg

The media are invited to attend Wake Forest University’s commencement ceremony May 19, featuring New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg as speaker. Bloomberg’s speech is titled, “The Choice is Yours.”

The outdoor ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. on University Plaza (the Quad). The event is not open to the public and parking passes will be required to enter campus. If your staff has not already received media and parking passes, contact the News Service to request them. All members of the media are also asked to carry their own media credentials.

Reporters and crews are encouraged to arrive early to secure a parking space. University Police staff will direct media vehicles to reserved parking areas in Davis Field, across from the Z. Smith Reynolds Library on the Reynolda Road side of campus. A section to the right of the stage will be reserved for media.

In case of rain, the commencement ceremony will be moved to Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum and begin at 9:30 a.m. Media can use the same parking pass for reserved parking in the east parking lot at the coliseum. Media passes and credentials will be checked at the east doors of the coliseum. Reserved media seating will be to the left of the stage. Media will be notified by 7 a.m. on May 19 if the rain plan is put into effect.

The News Service will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, to address media inquiries.
