Expert on African health and healing to speak at WFU
Steven Feierman, an expert on the history of health and healing in Africa, will present the Clonts Lecture in History March 21 at Wake Forest University.
Feierman, professor of history and the sociology of science at the University of Pennsylvania, will discuss “African Traditional Medicine versus American High-tech Biomedicine” at 6 p.m. in Scales Fine Arts Center, Room 102.
Sponsored by the history department at Wake Forest, the lecture is free and open to the public.
One of the top African historians in the United States, Feierman has written several books including “African History” and “Peasant Intellectuals.” He has also edited or co-edited several others, including “The Social Basis of Health and Healing in Africa” and “The Social History of Disease and Medicine in Africa.”
