Police investigating abduction, robbery of man on WFU campus

Wake Forest University and Winston-Salem police are investigating the robbery and abduction of a Winston-Salem man at the university on Nov. 17. The man was released unharmed shortly after the incident.

The incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. outside Scales Fine Arts Center, where the victim was sitting in his car while waiting for a friend who was inside the building. The victim is not associated with the university.

The victim told police that a man armed with a pistol got into his car and ordered him to drive to an ATM to get cash for him. They drove from the school to an ATM at the intersection of Hanes Mill Road and University Parkway.

The abductor took money, a cell phone and a wallet from the man.

The abductor then directed the man to drive to another nearby road, where he ordered the victim to get out of the car and to walk away. The abductor left the area in another car that had been following the men. The victim¹s car was left behind.

The victim reported the incident to Winston-Salem police.

The abductor is described as a black man, approximately 20 to 25 years old and approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall. He wore a blue-and-white bandana over his mouth and nose and a dark cloth on his head. He also wore gray sweatpants.
