Media Advisory: Hakeem Belo-Osagie to speak at WFU

Nigerian businessman Hakeem Belo-Osagie will speak at Wake Forest University on Tuesday, April 1, at 4:30 p.m. in Broyhill Auditorium in Farrell Hall.

Belo-Osagie ranked #34 on Forbes 2013 list of “Africa’s 50 Richest.” A Harvard Business School-trained petroleum economist, Belo-Osagie is chairman and a significant shareholder of the Nigerian operations of United Arab Emirates-based telecom provider Etisalat. He is a dedicated philanthropist and one of the largest donors to the African Leadership Academy, a residential secondary institution in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Belo-Osagie serves on Harvard University’s Global Board of Advisers and the Global Board of Advisors of the Council on Foreign Relations. He recently accepted an invitation to serve on the Global Advisers Board at the Brookings Institution.

The event is part of the “Journeys to Success” speaker series and is hosted by the Office of Multicultural Affairs. It is co-sponsored by the School of Business, the Office of Personal and Career Development, the Office of Diversity & Inclusion and Wake Forest’s African Studies program.

The event is free and open to the public.
