WFU Face to Face Speaker Forum schedule change

Yo-Yo Ma rescheduled for May 1, 2021

Face to Face

In January 2021, Wake Forest University will launch a signature speaker series called the Face to Face Speaker Forum. This community-facing series will bring world-renowned, influential voices to Winston-Salem to discuss topics in a variety of areas including politics, arts and culture, business and social justice.

The Face to Face Speaker Forum was set to launch fall of 2020. Programming originally scheduled for September and October has been rescheduled in consideration of the health and wellbeing of speakers and attendees due to the pandemic.

The forum with Yo-Yo Ma originally scheduled for Oct. 14, has been rescheduled for May 1, 2021.

“We are disappointed that we have had to postpone events scheduled for the fall,” said Sue Henderson, the executive director of the speaker forum. “However, we look forward to launching our inaugural season in January.”

The revised 2021 Face to Face Speaker Forum season schedule is below:

  • January 26, 2021 – Malcolm Gladwell, journalist and author of “Blink” and “Outliers”
  • March 18, 2021 – Former Secretaries of State Madeleine K. Albright (1997-2001) and General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.) (2001-2005)
  • May 1, 2021 – Yo-Yo Ma, cellist, cultural ambassador and U.N. Messenger of Peace

All Face to Face Speaker Forums will be held at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in accordance with any recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and the State of North Carolina that may be in place at the time of the event.

Season subscriptions to all three keynote events may be purchased online through the Face to Face Speaker Forum website. Single event ticket sales will be available closer to each event, subject to availability.
