Welcome back Deacs: WFU students return for spring semester
Students moved into their residence halls with balloons, welcoming waves, and family and friends who helped unpack cars for the spring semester. Classes begin today.
With colder weather ahead, Wake Forest has created a new space called “Fireside on Manchester.” The Plaza is now home to temporary ‘outdoor living rooms’ with fire pits and safely-distanced Adirondack chairs. Also new are small stages set up for outdoor performances.
An area in the University’s Wellbeing Center has been converted to a temporary game room with air hockey and ping-pong games to allow for socially distanced fun. More reservable study spaces are also available this semester.
Before arriving on campus, returning students were required to:
- Complete the pre-arrival testing process
- Self-quarantine and monitor for symptoms for 14 days prior to accessing campus or other Wake Forest facilities
- Resume using the SneezSafe tool for daily symptom screening for 14 days prior to accessing campus or other Wake Forest facilities
- Provide flu vaccination documentation in the Student Health Portal or receive an exemption
As with the fall semester, masks and social distancing are required, as well as the daily use of SneezSafe. The University will continue weekly asymptomatic testing.
To help preserve the health of our community, Wake Forest will forgo the traditional spring break week but will add two weekdays off during the semester. The Our Way Forward website provides current information.
