Wake ‘N Shake dance marathon to raise money for cancer research

Wake ‘N Shake, a student-organized 12-hour dance marathon to raise money for cancer research, will take place on Saturday, March 22, from noon to midnight in the Sutton Center.

This year, Wake ‘N Shake celebrates its 20th anniversary. It began in 2006 as a way to raise money for the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund. Students independently organize, publicize and lead the event each year. Last year, the marathon raised more than $300,000 for the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.

The theme this year is “Fuel the Fight for a Cure,” with racing-inspired designs and activities. During the event, two students will share their personal stories about their experiences with cancer to inspire the participants.
