Chris Paul steps up to serve as Face to Face keynote speaker on September 16

NBA All-Star, philanthropist, entrepreneur and Wake Forest basketball legend Chris Paul will step up to serve as the keynote speaker at the Face to Face Speaker Forum on Tuesday, September 16 at 7:30 p.m. at LJVM Coliseum. The previously announced keynote event with Earvin “Magic” Johnson is being postponed to a later date due to unforeseen circumstances associated with Johnson.

Tickets to the Johnson keynote will be honored as entry to the Paul event. For those who do not have tickets and would like to attend, good seats to the Paul keynote event remain available and can be purchased at facetoface.wfu.edu.

“Face to Face sincerely apologizes for any inconveniences caused by the rescheduling of the Magic Johnson keynote. The postponement is beyond our control,” said Face to Face Executive Director Sue Henderson. “We are profoundly grateful to Chris Paul for rearranging his schedule at the very last minute and enthusiastically agreeing to come to Winston-Salem on September 16.

“For basketball and Wake Forest fans, this will be a rare opportunity to experience a personal, in-depth conversation between current NBA guard Chris Paul and CBS sports commentator Tracy Wolfson,” Henderson added. “Chris Paul is, once again, stepping up when Wake Forest needs him, and his conversation with Tracy Wolfson will be one that we all will long remember and cherish.”

A West Forsyth High School and Wake Forest University basketball stand-out who is affectionately known as the Point God, Paul is a 12-time NBA All-Star and two-time Olympic Gold medalist. He was named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary team as one of the 75 greatest players in NBA history. In 2021, Paul became the first player in league history to record 20,000 points and 10,000 assists in their career. Currently, he plays for the LA Clippers.

Paul’s New York Times best-selling memoir, “Sixty-One: Life Lessons from Papa, On and Off the Court,” is a powerful and unexpected memoir of family, faith, tragedy and life’s most important lessons. His business footprint is diverse and includes a multi-platform production company Ohh Dip!!! Productions. Through the Chris Paul Family Foundation, he continues to provide resources that enrich and strengthen underserved communities across the country.

After Paul, the next Face to Face keynote event will feature former governor, senator and presidential nominee Mitt Romney on November 6 at Wake Forest’s Wait Chapel. Face to Face will welcome former National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster on February 26, 2026, and award-winning actress, singer-songwriter and “Wicked” star Cynthia Erivo on April 15, 2026.
