WFU Freshmen to Arrive Wednesday

Wake Forest University’s freshmen arrive on campus Wednesday, Aug. 19, as the university prepares for the opening of the fall semester.

A total of 1,004 freshmen are expected at Wake Forest. They will move into their residence halls throughout the day Aug. 19 before beginning orientation.

Classes for all undergraduates begin Wednesday, Aug. 26. A final count of the entire undergraduate student body is not yet available.

The new students — 511 women and 493 men — represent 46 states and nine foreign countries. Most, 986, will live on campus. Forty-six percent of the entering students were ranked in the top 5 percent of their high school classes. Twelve percent are minorities, including 8 percent who are African-American.

Classes also begin Aug. 26 for students enrolled in Wake Forest’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. About 150 entering students will bring enrollment to nearly 400.

Orientation for 113 new full-time MBA students begins today, Aug. 17. The Babcock Graduate School of Management operates three additional programs. Fifty-five new students enrolled in the executive program, 48 in the evening program and 45 in Wake Forest’s Charlotte-based MBA program. Classes for the full-time program begin Monday, Aug. 24.

Classes begin today, Aug. 17, for 163 first-year law students. Second- and third-year students begin classes Aug. 24.

Total enrollment figures for the law and MBA schools are not yet available.
