Frito-Lay CEO Will Discuss Leadership Qualities at WFU

Steven S. Reinemund, chairman and chief executive officer of the Frito-Lay Co., will speak on “The Essence of Leadership” at Wake Forest University on Thursday, Nov. 5.

Reinemund’s discussion, based largely on the life of former PepsiCo Inc. executive Wayne Calloway, will be from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Benson University Center’s Pugh Auditorium. The free and public event is part of the Critical Issues in Business and Accountancy speaker series sponsored by Wake Forest’s Calloway School of Business and Accountancy.

Reinemund was appointed to his current position with Frito-Lay in 1996. The company is a worldwide packaged foods division of PepsiCo. Prior to that position, Reinemund led the North American snack food operations. He started his PepsiCo career by working for Pizza Hut in 1984. He was named CEO in 1986.

Reinemund’s talk will draw upon the leadership qualities of Wayne Calloway, whose career with PepsiCo spanned 31 years. He served as chairman and CEO from 1986 to 1996 and was ranked the sixth most admired CEO in the United States by Fortune magazine in 1993. Calloway died in July at the age of 62.

Calloway, the namesake of Wake Forest’s undergraduate business and accountancy school, was chairman of the university’s board of trustees.
