Cross-Cultural Communication Workshop at WFU

The workshop, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Tribble Hall’s DeTamble Auditorium.

The workshop will include the following participants and talks:

• Anne Cordero, an associate professor of French at George Mason University, will present “Translation in the College Curriculum: Looking Ahead.” Cordero created and directs the translation studies program at George Mason.
• Michael Doyle, chairman of the foreign languages department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, will present a talk on “Translation, Interpretation and Business in a Global Economy.” Doyle has written extensively about using Spanish for international business and co-authored a best-selling textbook on the topic.
• Muriel Jerome-O’Keeffe, president of the American Translation Association, will present “The New Tools of the Trade: The Use of Technology in Translation.” O’Keeffe is an expert in the use of technology in translating foreign languages.
