Earth Day celebration planned at Wake Forest

EarthGlobal environmental issues will be the focus of an Earth Day celebration at Wake Forest University on April 22.

The free and public event will focus on raising awareness about environmental concerns and the ways individuals can help the environment. The celebration will begin at 3:30 p.m. on the Magnolia Court, next to Benson University Center.

The event will feature music and various booths dedicated to environmental issues and concerns, such as recycling, global warming, the oceans and cultural and biological diversity.

Booths will feature environmental organizations such as Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful and the North Carolina chapter of the Nature Conservancy, an international, private, non-profit organization committed to preserving and protecting habitats. In addition to enjoying music and learning about environmental causes, Earth Day participants can listen to an environmental poetry reading or win prizes by testing their “environmental awareness quotient.”

The Earth Day celebration is part of April’s look at the environment during Wake Forest’s Year of Globalization and Diversity. For more information, call 336-758-5788.
