WFU sociologist elected president of academic society

Catherine T. Harris, professor of sociology at Wake Forest University, has been elected president of Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Sociology Honor Society.

Founded in 1920, the honor society is dedicated to promoting, facilitating and recognizing academic scholarship in the field of sociology.

A member of the Wake Forest faculty since 1980, Harris has published journal articles such as “Settlement has Many Faces: Physicians and Medical Malpractice” and “Grassroots Sociology and the Future of the Discipline.”

Her teaching interests include management in organizations, conflict resolution, and research methods and theory. Harris received her bachelor’s degree from Lenior-Rhyne College, her master’s from Duke University and her doctorate from the University of Georgia.
