WFU jazz ensemble to perform

The Wake Forest University Jazz Ensemble will present a concert at 8 p.m. April 18 in Brendle Recital Hall.

The concert will open with “Straight No Chaser” by Thelonius Monk. Ira Gershwin and Jerome Kern’s “Long Ago and Far Away” will follow. Also featured will be pieces by Mike Tomaro, Sammy Nestico, Mitchell Parish and Hoagy Carmichael. The performance will conclude with “In a Mellow Time” by Duke Ellington and “I Love You” by Cole Porter.

The jazz ensemble is conducted by Kevin Bowen, director of bands.
