Wake Forest University’s Department of Music will present concerts featuring various chamber music ensembles at 8 p.m. on April 29 and April 30 in Brendle Recital Hall.
The April 29 program will begin with three pieces by a guitar trio. “Quintet for Brass Instruments” will feature students on trumpet, tuba and trombone. The Wake Forest Flute Choir will perform three selections titled “The Bells of Dunkirk,” “Rose Cottage” and “The Olive Trees.” Sunday night’s concert will conclude with “Quintet for Clarinet and Strings, Op. 115,” featuring violin, viola and clarinet.
The April 30 program will open with three pieces performed by a woodwind and horn ensemble. A trio of recorders will then perform several 16th century pieces. A series of small ensembles will perform music by Schubert, Mendelssohn, Bach and Mozart. The concert will conclude with a performance on violin, viola and cello of Mendelssohn’s “Octet in E-Flat Major, Op. 20.”
The concerts were coordinated by David Hagy, director of orchestra, and Jacqui Carrasco, assistant professor of music.
