Moldavian Quartet to perform Eastern European folk music at Wake Forest

The Patmos Quartet, a musical group from the Republic of Moldova, will perform their unique style of Eastern European folk music, hymns and Jewish melodies at 6 p.m. on May 6 at Wake Forest University.

The free concert will be presented in Benson University Center’s Pugh Auditorium.

The quartet, named for an Aegean Island, was organized in 1992. The musicians are graduates of the Music Academy of Kishinev, located in Moldova’s capitol city. Moldova is a former Soviet republic.

The performance is sponsored by the Wake Forest Center for International Studies. The North Carolina tour of the Patmos Quartet is made possible by the Winston-Salem and Greensboro Sister City Programs.
