The Wake Forest University Theatre concludes its annual Studio Series of one-act plays with a comedy and a drama. Performances of “Tape” and “Stud,” directed by senior theatre majors, will be held Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 4 at 4:30 p.m. in the Ring Theatre of Scales Fine Arts Center.
“Tape,” a drama written by Stephen Belber, examines motive, memory, truth and perception. The play takes place in a Motel 6 in Lansing, Mich. where two old high school buddies named Vince and Jon meet up for the first time since graduation. During the evening, Vince tapes Jon as he confesses to date-raping Amy, a girl they both once dated. In a suspenseful twist of events, Vince also invites Amy to have dinner with them that night.
Directed by Melissa Jones, “Tape” features Wake Forest students Nate Donaldson and Stephanie Hill and Wake Forest graduate Andy Rigsby.
“Stud,” written by Alex Gottleib and directed by Joey Picard, is a wild comedy about a young musician living in Greenwich Village who is blithely enjoying the sexual revolution of the late 1960s and is about to discover that the life of a “stud” may have some serious consequences.
The play stars Wake Forest students Erich Jones, Melissa Gervasio and Bethany Novak.
