Student entrepreneurs compete in contest

MBA student Kevin Cain and undergraduates Ben Comer and Brett Apter will compete against student entrepreneurs from other schools for $85,000 in cash and prizes during the Babcock School’s annual Elevator Competition in March.


Serving the community

The School of Law has opened a new Community Law and Business Clinic to provide experience for students and free legal aid for small-business owners and nonprofits. The clinic, directed by Steve Virgil, will host its first “Ask A Lawyer” day on Wednesday.


Deacons run by Florida State, 86-63

Seventh-ranked Wake Forest bounced back from several disappointing losses with a convincing 86-63 rout of No. 25 Florida State at the Joel Coliseum on Saturday.

The real Abraham Lincoln

On the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birthday, a new book by Reynolds Professor Paul Escott offers some provocative arguments that challenge what we thought we knew about the 16th president. In “'What Shall We Do with the Negro?': Lincoln, White Racism, and Civil War America” (University of Virginia Press), Escott argues that Lincoln was a complex politician of his time, with often conflicting attitudes and policies toward black Americans, rather than the enlightened Great Emancipator.
