Wake Forest University hosts Hit The Bricks, drawing hundreds of students, faculty, staff, and friends of the University to run or walk laps around Hearn Plaza
Wake Forest University’s Hit The Bricks raised a record-breaking $301,722.22 for cancer research during this year’s event. The grand total was announced during the closing ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 5. It was an emotional moment for many participants, as the fundraising amount was shared with the crowd. The steps of Wait Chapel were lined with luminaries honoring cancer survivors and those impacted by the disease. More than 1,700 students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends ran or walked laps around Hearn Plaza during the eight-hour relay race. The student-led fundraising event at Wake Forest University began in 2003.
Wake Forest University collections and gallery exhibitions are now available in a new digital guide on Bloomberg Connects, a free arts and culture app created by Bloomberg Philanthropies. 
A $10,000 National Endowment for the Arts Challenge America grant will help support a collaboration between Wake Forest and Loire Valley Theater Festival, Inc. to bring the civil rights musical drama, “Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom,” to Wake Forest University in October 2023.

Wake Forest University is hosting the annual Maya Angelou Garden Party this Sunday, April 3, from 2-4 p.m. in Bailey Park in Innovation Quarter. The event celebrates Angelou’s April 4 birthday, is always held on the Sunday closest to it and is free and open to the public. 
Wake Forest has received $250,000 from the Henry Luce Foundation to commission and produce two original plays to be presented at the 2024 National Black Theatre Festival.
