Wake Forest panel addresses civil liberties in wake of Sept. 11

The media is invited to cover a panel discussion about civil liberties in the wake of Sept. 11 at Wake Forest University March 26 at 8 p.m. in Pugh Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. It is part of the university’s Year of Unity and Hope.

Panelists will include Katy Harriger, associate professor of political science, and School of Law professors Michael Kent Curtis and Margaret Taylor. They will address the controversy surrounding the government’s response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11. Topics will include the federal detainment and questioning of people of Middle Eastern origin in the United States, challenges to free speech and the separation of powers in the American government.

The panelists will also answer questions from the audience.
