Wake Forest University’s Charlotte and Philip Hanes Art Gallery will open “Mixed Meanings/Hidden Messages,” an exhibition of selections from three of Wake Forest’s nine collections, on Oct. 13. The exhibit will run through Jan. 22.
In conjunction with the exhibit, the Wake Forest Student Union will host a discussion with exhibiting artist James Casebere at 4 p.m. Oct. 13 in Scales Fine Arts Center, Room 102. An opening reception will follow the lecture in the gallery at 5 p.m.
The show will highlight recent acquisitions to the Student Union Collection of Contemporary Art and includes selections from the university’s General Collection and the Student Art Collection. All selections will be grouped thematically to allow interaction between the works of students, lesser known figures, and artists of national and international reputation.
The exhibit, lecture and reception are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
