Wake Forest University’s Museum of Anthropology will offer “How to Identify Real Indians,” a four-week adult education class starting Wednesday, Jan. 6.
Led by Tony Layng, adjunct professor of anthropology at Wake Forest, the class will explore the stereotypes and misconceptions about Native Americans throughout our country. The class will consist of lectures, discussion, and slide presentations.
Class topics will be: “Traditional Cultures,” “Adapting to Change,” “Reservation Economies,” and “Indian Identity.” Classes meet Jan. 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 7-9 p.m. in the museum classroom. The course text is “Killing the White Man’s Indian” by Fergus Bordwich.
